Greetings All,

I am looking to use DotNetNuke (4.0) as the framework for my online business model.  I've registered a domain name and installed the 4.0 Framework onto the server, and it is up and running without issue.  I made a quick list of what I want to be able to do, and am wondering if it is possible (without code changes) to:

  1.  Have users login/register at the host portal and/or a child portal, and have thier single User ID be uniquely shared throughout.
    • Is there anyway to assign an alias to a User ID depending on which portal they are viewing? For instance, when posting in the forums of one portal, an alias (which would be non-unique across multiple portals) could be used?
  2. Grant users a varying degree of privaledges at a child portal, based on that portal administrators choices.  So that while a user can have general access to all child portals by registering, he would not be considered a member of those portals until the individual child portal administrators grant him permission.
    • Is this possible in the framework? I
  3. Allow for a registered user to render payment and automatically create and administer a child portal.
    • It seems to me (and yes, I'm a big noob) that portal creation has to be done manually by the host. Is this not true? DNN seems like it was created to support a business model around this very issue, but I am confused as to how potential portal client actually has thier portal created for them?
    • Even if you do have to create these manually, portal creation itself asks for the username and password for the portal administrator.  How does the host retrieve this information? Do you simply have to maintain it elsewhere? I would think that others are using DNN for this type of business model, what steps do you go through?

I think I'm missing some very basic concepts here, but for the moment I am stumped.  If anyone could please enlighten me, or even point me in the direction of some good DNN Business consultants/services, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Gene

I am currently using a third party module to accomplish Single Sign on with multiple child portals, DnnMasters created the mod and it is on snowcovered

I am not sure if SSO exists in DNN 4.3, was there a change to support this?
