Good day,

While trying to send an e-mail blast, our site produces the following error. We are running DNN 5.1.2. We tried multiple times to send the e-mail and each time it produced the same error. Any guidance would be highly appreciated!!

Transaction (Process ID 53) was deadlocked on lock | communication buffer resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction.

I haven't seen this error, are you using built in "Newsletter" module in admin module?

which SMTP server are you trying to contact, are you able to send out a single email to an external mail address?

Yes, I am using the "Bulk Mail" feature on the admin menu. It has been working great for the last year and nothing has been reconfigured lately, nor have any server updates been applied. The SMTP services are on the same application server as the DNN portal.

I tried it again this afternoon to a small distribution group (2-3 people) and it worked fine, so maybe it was a temporary hickup. I'll have our admin try it again to the large group.

you may also try using sync sending mode instead of async (last option)

Problem with sync mail is the distribution list has over 500 e-mails. I assume with sync mail it would end up in a lot of bulk mail boxes?

I think I'm going to chalk this one up to a random hiccup since it has never happened before. If it happens again, I'll report here. Thanks for your feedback Sebastian!
