Hi,

I need guidance on how best to setup web farm for DNN community edition 4.8.2. I'm trying to mimic the model in terms of infrastructure as illustrated here: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=uBK3uGIYYXg%3D&tabid=478&mid=857

The reason I want to go with web farm is that there's a lots of load in the current two server setup ( web server and DB). I want to load-balance two web servers to ease the load on web tier. I had allocated the server for the this and load-balancing was being done through smart cisco switch then came the complexity of file management which I thought I could keep in sync for both nodes using tools like Robocopy but we were still getting errors. Now we decide to add another server as an "Application server" as listed in the DNN model in the document in above link.

Now the question is; how to configure the file server? What files/folders need to be copied from webserver's root directory to the application server? and how and where the pointers will be configured?

Is there any document/guide with step by step instructions on how to go about it?

Any help on this regard will be greatly appreciated!

Having not looked at that document in quite a while I am assuming that when they say application server they want you to point IIS from each web server to the UNC share of the files for DNN, ALL of the files, not just a specific folder.

You should read this Web Farm configuration guide: www.dotnetnuke.com/LinkClick.aspx

Your most important area is going to be the Network permissions between your Web Heads, IIS, SQL and File Server. If you don't set them correctly you'll have major issues.
