Hi,

I am tearing my hair out.

I have tried the two most previous DNN 5.X and the last of the 4.X. I have tried Server 2008 and 2003. I have tried SQLExpress and SQLServer (both old and new).

I get completely unpredictable results each time I refresh a page.

Repeat by steps:

1. Do fresh install.

2. Log in as host or admin.

3. Select the "Home" page.

4. Delete the modules on that page.

5. Refresh the page. They're back.

6. Refresh the page. Some are back.

7. Refresh the page. A different set or none are back.

8. Repeat forever.

I can't make any progress as I can't tell what changes have stuck. In fact, none do. And don't. They come back and go away with every new load of the page.

I've done or not done something simple right?

Please help.

this definately sounds like a caching issue. please make sure, IIS is not configured to cache dynamic content and you don't have other caching components in between. use shift F5 to force yoru browser not to use cached data.

Thank you. Isn't that setting a IIS 7 setting? I'm currently trying to make it work on IIS 6.

AFAIR there has been caching of dynamic content in IIS 6 as well

I'm back on IIS 7 and tried everything I can think of but still get the cache consistency problem.

I have verified via telnet that cache-control: no-store is coming through.

Output caching is set with rules for  .aspx and .html to "Do not cache."

Dynamic content compression is not installed (not that that should matter).

Session-state is in-process. Does that matter?

There are 4 worker processes - I will try with 1.

The site is set up as a "web site" not as an application. Should it be an "application" on a site?

Can't think of anything else... Major major :(
