Hi all,

Doing some experimenting here. Installed DNN 5.2 using just the install package. Did this with the virtual dir. set to asp.net 2.0
One minor glitch in that it put the dnn database into the Master db in SQLServer Express after I'd actually specified SQLServer 2008 in the wizard.
Not a big issue as this is only experimental.

I then changed the .Net framework target to 4.0

I then opened the website from VS2010 beta and ok'd the conversion options etc. that VS prompts for.
When I try running the site now, I get this error: Even running the web without VS, I get the same error.

Line 2:
Line 3:  <!-- sample UA "Mozilla/5.0+(X11;+U;+Linux+i686;+en-US;+rv:1.9.0.10)+Gecko/2009042523+Ubuntu/9.04+(jaunty)+Firefox/3.0.10" -->
Line 4:  <browser id="LinuxFirefox" parentID="MozillaRV">
Line 5:  <identification>
Line 6:  <userAgent match="Firefox" />

Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:4.0.21006; ASP.NET Version:4.0.21006.1

Thought I'd see if anyone had tried something similar...I'm sure the "core team" must have been through some of this by now for eventual future (DNN 6.0 LOL!!) releases...

we've been doing some work on this already, and expect to add a second vs.net 2010 specific sln file with future distributions so that the project can be loaded and compiled correctly in that version.

Hello,

For a workaround till new DNN package arrives, check this thread:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/118/threadid/345255/scope/posts/Default.aspx

After a couple of minutes bufixing you'll get a correct VS 2010 DNN solution.

I've almost forgot: do not change the target framework, leave it on 3.5 SP1! I've tried to convert DNN 5.2 to FW 4.0. Site were built after some manual web.config changes, but it crashed with a strange Target of invocation exception.

This is because of ASP.NET 4.0 breaking changes.

If you dont want to manually update (and debug) DNN along with all of used modules you have to wait for an official DNN for .NET 4.0 release. I hope it will comes out on mid next year. :)

please don't expect an ASP.Net 4.0 compatible version of DNN prior to the release of the framework itself.
