Hi,

I was trying to upgrade my 5.1.4 projects with the new ver 5.2.

Few questions:

1. Is there a best practice steps for DNN 5 upgrade. (including projects that hold external module such as XMod)

2. I downloaded the upgrade files, paste it as it is on my currect website folder. when I try to view it I was getting an error of "The directory '/App_GlobalResources/' is not allowed because the application is precompiled". I google it and I found that that "PrecompiledApp.config" should be deleted. When I deleted it I got other errors regarding missing files for iFrame module that I added to my projects. I guess I'm doing something wrong... Please HELP......

Thanks,

Lee.

  • backup all files and database
  • download upgrade package
  • stop the web site (or at least, turn "autoupgrade" to false in web.config)
  • unzip hiearchically into DNN installation directory (or unzip locally and upload), overwriting existing files
  • browse your site (if autoupgrade is turned off, browse /install/install.aspx?mode=upgrade).
  • done
