This is DNN5.1.4. I'm programmatically managing pages in my portal. I need to detect when a page with the same Name has already been added and if so delete it before adding a newer version. I basically copied and extended the logic found in the default managetabs.ascx module.

Programatically deleting does not seem to really work. Even if I delete the page using Admin panel it no longer appears in the list but it still shows up when programatically searching by that TabName. I've tried clearing the portal cache, the page cache, and module cache but no luck.  Following is the core logic:

DataCache.ClearPortalCache(portalSettings.PortalId, true);
TabController pageController = new TabController();

TabInfo sourcePage = pageController.GetTab(sourcePageId, portalSettings.PortalId, true);
TabInfo clonePage = sourcePage.Clone();

TabInfo duplicatePage = pageController.GetTabByName(clonePage.TabName, portalSettings.PortalId);
if (!(duplicatePage == null)) {
   pageController.DeleteTab(duplicatePage.TabID, portalSettings.PortalId);
   //pageController.DeleteTab(duplicatePage.TabID, portalSettings.PortalId, true);
   //DataCache.ClearModuleCache(duplicatePage.TabID);
   //DataCache.ClearTabsCache(portalSettings.PortalId);
   duplicatePage = null;
}
// Go on to add cloned page

What am I doing wrong? Thx folks!

<p>Hey Dave:</p> <p>I'm not sure, but you should check out the code in the 'empty trash' administrative page.&#160; It appears that things like deleted modules and pages aren't *really* deleted until sql code is executed on that page...so perhaps what you need is more of a permanent delete--combine the delete with the empty trash code?</p>

Dave,

You may want to consider how the modules are handled by the "re-cycle bin"... that maybe why the page/module still exists.

Paul.
