Hi,

I have, in my opinion, a typical DNN installation problem.

My current website is in ASPX (C#). Although I have a BIN directory where my code lies, most of the pages are just aspx pages.

Now, my question is this:

How can I use DNN with my current application? Given that the current app also needs a web.config file. I tried to merge the 2 web.config files, and it didnt work.

Also - How do I create a DNN page that has ASPX content in there? I was basically hoping to copy and paste the aspx files that I have in the DNN web-page.

How exactly would any one here go about doing this project?? I'm really interested.

My current app does a lot of things (user registration etc) , but it doesnt handle dynamic content - and I desperately need that.

I'm really lost. I feel a bit alone also.

I'd be so grateful for any assistance.

Thanks,

Houba

Basic question:  How much of your app must you use?  If all of it, DNN may not be the solution for you.  You say your app doesn't handle dynamic content, so why would it even be ASP.NET?

As for separating the apps, that's what setting folders as applications does in IIS.

besides, DNN does handle registration, I don't see a benefit in merging two applications with user registration both

regarding exisiting content. either copy paste into Text/HTML modules, if static, or convert into DNN modules, if dynamic.

First, I'm an so grateful for your responses. Many thanks.

I am no expert is ASPX - (which must seem obvious to you by now), but I need now to support it. So, I will have to learn fast. So please be patient with my ignorance.

How can I convert an ASPX page into a DNN module?

Also, how can I add 2 ASPX applications (DNN & my own) together? What are the steps? You talked about virtual folders etc... this is beyond me.

What exactly must I do?

Thanks

Ehab, you asked "How can I convert an ASPX page into a DNN module?"

You can copy all your content on your aspx page and paste it into the text/html module.

  • At the top of your DNN site, you have a control panel.  Click on the combo box that says module and select text/html then click ad module to page.
  • When your page reloads you willsee your module on the page.  Click the down arrow by the module heading.  Click Edit Content.
  • A text editor will appear(looks just like the one that you used when you posted your question here).
  • Copy the content from you aspx page and paste your content into that editor and click update.
