my Version de DNN : 04.09.05

can i want to upgrade since 4.9.5 to 5.2.0

NOTE: System requirements have changed in DotNetNuke 5.2.0. DotNetNuke requires SQL Server 2005 or above and .NET 3.5 SP1. Please upgrade SQL Server and .NET before installing or upgrading to DotNetNuke 5.2.0.

in 04.09.05 i have not the new module :

  • HTML 05.01.04
  • form and Lists 05.00.03
  • Forum 04.05.03

form and list replace other module ? if yes is there compatibility problème with this module for all old data

does i instal this module before upgrade to 5.2.0

What is your recommandation please

  • make sure, you are running on SQL Server 2005 or 2008 (and your database is not in SQL server 2000 compatibility mode)
  • make sure having .Net framework 3.5 SP1 installed
  • DNN 5.2.0 has a bug with non-ASCII characters like German umlauts, ç, kyrillic and asian characters. if you use it, I suggest waiting for 5.2.1
  • to upgrade:
    • backup all files and database
    • stop the website or at least turn off AutoUpgrade in web.config (edit with a text editor)
    • download upgrade package and unzip files hierarchically into DNN installation folder
    • start web site
    • if autoupgrade turned off, browse to /install/install.aspx?mode=upgrade to trigger upgrade
    • review the upgrade log on the screen
    • if it went well, go to Host :: Extensions to upgrade modules. HTML should be upgraded automatically, form and List is successor of UserDefinedTable and will keep all data. New versions of Forums, Reports and other modules are included as well.

HI Sébastian, thank's again ..yes i prefer wait the 5.2.1 in a few time ?

on Download Community edition page :

Which package is right for you?

Install

Contains only the files needed for a run-time deployment to a web server. Download the Install Package if you want to deploy a live site to a web server with the minimum required files.

Upgrade

Contains only the files needed for upgrading an existing installation (does not include module packages). Download the Upgrade Package if you want to upgrade an existing installation to a newer version.

if i chose upgrade there is no module include also i dont now id the

UserDefinedTable is installed in the upgrade ?

the description on download page is not up2date, upgrade packages do include latest module packages since ~DNN 4.9,0

Module upgrades are not installed automatically during upgrade (except Text/HTML), you need start upgrade in Host :: Extensions, using "install available extensions".

DNN 5.2.1 will be monthly release for December.
