I have no idea what I've done to cause this, but now all new modules (old ones work fine) cause an error.  For instance, here's what you see after adding an announcement in the Announcements module.

A critical error has occurred.
Access to the path 'D:\etc.\etc.\etc.\Portals\_default\Cache\Modules\140\' is denied.

If you switch to View mode, same error.  If you switch back to edit mode, same error.  BUT! if you then click the breadcrumb for the current page, the page refreshes and it looks fine.

There is no "140" folder in the ...\Portals\_default\Cache\Modules directory, and adding one doesn't help.

I can only think of one thing that might be behind this.  The other day I tried installing the form and List module but it timed out while installing and threw an error.  More errors came when I removed it, immediately afterwards.

It was file/folder permissions.  This web site sort of got moved around recently.  I reset the file permissions so apps can write and, voila!  All's right with the world again.  Whew!

....for now....
