Hi!   I'm curious about the other ASPDNSF ML/DNN customers out there.  What are your plans now that the product has been "discontinued"?   I would plan to continue using it, if it would work on DNN 5.x but so far, I've had no luck making it work.   I bought the DNN 5.x books and am hoping I can find the "solution" there (I know...I'm expecting alot...).

So, I'm thinking there are several possibilities:

- Continue to use the product because you have the source (or your programmers do) and you think you can upgrade to 5.x

- Continue to use the product on 4.x indefinitely (don't have the source or don't have the time to upgrade)

- seek another DNN cart

- Seek another non-DNN cart

Me?  I'm ready to scream!   Seriously though...I've considered "non-dnn cart" and trying to "integrate" it into my DNN site.  This is not my preferred option.  This is what I did prior to ASPDNSF ML/DNN and while it "worked", I didn't feel that I could make the UI integrated.   I don't have unlimited programming time and I have come to enjoy buying inexpensive modules that jazz up the site.

I also started looking for other DNN carts.  I haven't tested them, but from the sample stores, I can see that most will need "customization", in addition to converting the data.   I'm assuming the "base" product functionality works (ie the calculations, taxes are rounded properly, data is sent and received from paypal correctly)...if not, there's more "customization" that will need to be done, besides the requisite testing.

Or I could try to fix ASPDNSF ML/DNN myself and upgrade it.  I'm rather torn because I have no idea how much time the upgrade will take, but I also am unsure how much investment a new product would be to get it to my liking.   At least I know ASPDNSF ML/DNN - what works and what doesn't.  Plus the data is loaded and the basics now work (after months of correction...)

Would love to discuss with other folks in the same boat - privately or in forums.   You can come to the unofficial user group site and discuss.  admittedly, it's a small user group, but the product was discontinued before the user group could solidify.   Constructive posts will not be deleted (unlike another site we know!)

If you are going to spend a bundle to customize, I suggest you switch to another cart which has strong support. If it works and needs little  customization, maybe you can stay with it.  A shopping cart technology hasn't changed much over the years. It's still the same process of ordering and paying.

Hi, Krista, I am also one of the victim which bought the apsdnsf dnn module when it start come out. I am not sure what should I do and I really can't abundunt the cart and just like I abundant my 2 thousand purchasing price. We should ask all the buyers grope together and try to develop ourselve.

Liew - trust me, I feel your pain.   After all the time I spent getting to this point, I didn't want to walk away from the cart.   But I urge you to reconsider your situation.   I've been trying to see if I could "fix" the upgrade issues (or find out what they are!).

This is what I've learned:

  1. After asking nicely for the source related to the already delivered 5.x modules, I haven't received anything.
  2. After asking nicely for a description of what doesn't work, I haven't received anything
  3. I asked for a description of what PCI or PA/DSS issues existed and have received nothing
  4. I wrote to some DNN experts who seem to have some familiarity with ASPDNSF ML/DNN and asked for consultation for money.   No one will agree to help.
  5. The two stated reasons for discontinuing ML/DNN were the PA/DSS and the inability to upgrade to DNN 5.x.

So...I figure if no consultant will agree to help me (probably because they know something I don't know about the amount of work this is!), the company hasn't been able to do it and I can't get any info about what needs to be done, except for my own tests, I'm stuck.   I figure that this is a sign...they invested lots of time and couldn't get it to work, maybe I should just forget my investment and move along.

I've been testing other carts and may have a solution that will work for me.  :)   Spend just a few hours testing other products...it might be faster than trying to make ASPDNSF work on DNN 5.x.   At this point, I need to get my store on DNN 5.x and I need the fastest way to get there.   :)
