I have a custom Scheduler that sends out SMSes to the users. I am really worried over it running excessively. In the last 3 days, it has over 45000 runs. I have just cleared the entire schedule history table, and in the image below, you can see it has already run 10+ times inside 15 seconds.

The configuration for the schedule is as follows:

Imbibe.DNN.Modules.Notification.NotificationScheduler, II_Notification, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null Enabled Every 15 Minutes n/a 12/19/2009 2:23:07 AM

The retry timer has been disbaled for the above scheduler. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I am using DNN 4.9.0

An issue with long running scheduled tasks repeating a large number of times was resolved recently, either in 5.1.4 or 5.2.0, I recommend you upgrade to a more recent version.

Yes, this happens with my bulk mailer (Axon) and my backup module (Evotiva)  on DNN 4.9.5  - apparently upgrading to DNN 5.x fixes it (please confirm)

I have a complete production system deployed here with many custom modules. There have been many major changes in DNN 5.0 particularly related to the handling of modules. I would not like to make an upgrade before extensive testing, for which we currently dont have time. If there is no other option, I would consider creating a new thread from the Scheduler's DoWork() method, and make the Scheduler thread return immediately.

Can you people confirm there is no other option currently with my version of DNN??
