What about this error:

00:01:53.063 -   Executing Application Upgrades: 05.02.01 Error!

you need to review DNN EventLog (or Eventlog table in the database) to get details of this error.

John;

I believe, based on the IIS Timeout error you previously posted this appears to be an IIS work thread issue.

Your IIS work thread is quitting on you so I'm wondering if you do some simple clean up in IIS and browser if this goes away?

Recycle the AppPool, restart IIS, dumb cache/cookies in your browser and then re-run the upgrade

I've installed and upgrade DNN multiple times on a Windows  machines and if I do multiple install/upgrades eventually I run into issues if the AppPool has > 10 Applications running in it.

Also, can you verify in SQL Configuration manager that you have Named Pipes, TCP/IP and Shared memory all set as "Enabled".

I've now run upgrade from 4.9.0 to 5.2.2 on a faster server and for the third time have this error :

00:00:27.781 -   Executing Application Upgrades: 05.02.01 Error!

The event log shows :

EXCEPTION: Access to the path '\Cache\Modules\' is denied.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
JC

In fact there are two exceptions (in this order)

AssemblyVersion: 5.2.2

InnerException: Invalid object name 'PortalLanguages'.

InnerException: Access to the path '\Cache\Modules\' is denied.
