The search by authors is still broken with the new forums.. in a new way. Enter anything for author name and you always get back more than 500 results!

It must be rocket surgery.

Actually, the problem is rather specific to a site the size of DNN.com. In other sites with far less users it works just fine as demonstrated here: http://www.dnnforums.com/Resources/Fo.... The control actually being used here is the Client API's Text Suggest control but eventually I will replace it with something else (even on smaller sites this is a usability issue). This will allow me to write a better population method and use that rocket science degree I have.

Chris - I don't think the comment is about the TextSuggest not working. Its that the search does not observe what is entered in the Post Authors field.

For example: enter crispy in the Post Authors field and Search. the most recent 500 posts in the forums are returned, by all different users.

If you go to the link in my example, and type just "C", you will see my host account and my admin account on that site. If you select from the text suggest, you will see it applies something like: Chris Paterra [4]; to the text box. If you click submit, you will see it applies the filter. What is happening here is user's aren't getting populated names back timely/properly (because of the size) which in turn means you are not selecting a user and thus all the posts are returned (to an upper limit) which have no relation to your user because it was never selected.

If Autosuggest is not working properly and making the search completely fail, turn it off then. It's breaking the search for no good reason.

Plus I had no idea there was an Autosuggest feature in place on because I don't see anything in the text box. Should I type reaaallllly sloooooow!? I know the author name (usually myself) I am searching for so I don't need this autosuggest feature.
