Currently I have a membership portion of my site that is assigned to the 'subscription' security role in order to access priviledged content.   Now, a small group of my current members want to create a new 'inner circle' group if you will.

How do I now create another security role for a different membership group separate from my current 'subscription' group?

just go to admin > security roles and create a new role. Here you can define whether the new role is public or not and automatic or not. If a role is public your users can add themselves to that role through their own profile page, if the role is automatic, new users will be put in that role automatically (by default, the  "subscribers"  role is public and automatic

Erik,

THANK YOU so much for your reply.   Is there a tutorial on this that you could point me to that will explain it?  While I understand what you are saying I am still unclear as to a 'profile page' and what 'automatic' is, etc...
