After the installation of DNN 4.0.3, when I browsed to the website, all the default modules in the front page have errors. This is one of the errors that I got from the log viewer:

Anyone can help me resolve this? I can login to the database and I have made sure that I have set the connection string in web.config's <connectionstring> and <appsettings>.

I've seen this before, but it was a long time ago (3.1 install). I'd suggest you try re-installing from scratch.

Wait... Was this an install or upgrade? When I received this error, it was on the entire page, not just a module.

This was a new install of 4. I used the "Install.zip" for DNN 4. Each individual module has this error - from the HTML/Text to the Links. Any module (the default ones) that I added has this error. Is it possible that the Module was not properly setup / install (by default)?

Hello:

On most of these I've seen like this there is an almost 1/2 install that occurred, in some cases you will see a dropdown list of some of the core modules, for example.  Is anything like this the case?

This will usually result from not having the NTFS permissions for your site setup such that the aspnet alias account has the ability to create your portal and finish the install.  I would retry your installation from scratch and take care to see that the NTFS permissions are setup properly following the DNN Installation guide.

Although I don't believe it is a connection string issue, if you are still having trouble post your string's format so this can be ruled out as well.

Keep me posted - no pun intended..............

John
