I am trying learn how to edit skins for DNN4.  Is it possible to use an editor such as FrontPage 2003 or VS 2005 express web edition to open up the skin files and make changes?  If not, what is the suggested method to editing a skin?  Is there any good documents or vid's that help explain the skin editing process more in depth?

It would be nice if there was a skin project team that developed many free skins to go along with this great open source project.

Thanks,

Hello,

I use VWD Express for creating skins and find it to be a really useful tool. - I actually now prefer it over Dreamweaver etc.

There are quite a few resources out there for skinning, this page gives you a list of all the free resources I've come across that are available: Skinning Resources

If you are looking for videos, I've put together skinning videos using VWD which include all of the skin files for you to learn from, check out issues 5-9 (just about to release no.9 in the next day) - Think there's something like 50 skinning videos on there now (need to re-count!) (out of 129 videos)

Issue 8 - CSS for Styling and Layout in DotNetNuke
Issue 7 – Developing and enhancing skins
Issues 5 & 6 - Working with skins

If you are looking for free skins, just do a search on Google and you will find the main people such as Ninas site: www.xd.com.au

I've also got some free videos that cover skinning from my perspective. There are some articles as well that cover this.
