Greetings, this is my first post at dnn.  I have never used dnn but am looking forward to using it.  Again, I wish to deploy dnn on a hosted website.

Do I install DNN local and then move it to my webhost?

The install instructions direct you to copy the install.zip file contents into a root folder such as c:\DotNetNuke.  Does this equate to the root folder of a web host installation?  Or must I create a '\DotNetNuke' folder on my websites root?

In the installation pdf file it instructs you to edit the connection string in web.config .

default code:  <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=(local);Database=DotNetNuke;uid=;pwd=;"providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

Can anyone provide a sample connection string for a hosted website?

Does the Database have to be named DotNetNuke?

Separately, is there an installation faq for dnn? and if so, where is it located.  I can't find one.

you can either install locally, setup your web site and move it to the hosting server or directly install it up on the server and develop the web site up there (except developing your own modules). There is no need to adopt web.config manually, this can easily been done using "custom" option of the install wizard. proper setup of connection string depends on the hosting configuration, your hosting provider should be able to provide you with appropriate details for the SQL server provided.

Thanks Sebastian!!!!  The installation instructions don't include that little tid-bit.  They instruct you to manually edit the web.config file.

Will post results of my install.

Thanks again.

No joy.  Even though I have debugmode="False" I still get the asp.net error page telling me to turn it off.  My database was updated.  But the install process bombs on the module's install. Any suggestions?

I have just reset my sites configuration and database and attempting installation again with only the default Community module to be installed.
