 When my blog writers are adding a blog entry the summary editor looks blank to them.  However if I click on "Source"  I see

<p>&#160;</p>

and of course this prevents the blog listing page from auto-generating a summary.

How can I prevent the editor from having this initial content?

Hi bozojoe,

it's because the FCK Editor is putting "<p>&#160;</p>" in the summary field and you need to set

FCKConfig.FillEmptyBlocks = false ;

This setting can be found in:

  1. One here: [dnnroot]\Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\FCKeditor\fckconfig.js
  2. One here: [dnnroot]\Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\Custom\fckconfig.js
  3. And the last here: [dnnroot]\Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\FCKeditor\editor\_source\internals\fckconfig.js

but I only found it in the first two places .

You should then clear your cache, and you will have to revisit those posts to clear out the empty paragraphs and re-post them

hth

 This is fixed in v4.0 which should be in the release tracker in the coming weeks.
