I tried to install DNN 5.2.2 on a Windows Server 2008 with IIS7 and .NET 3.5SP1

  • The server has medium trust, a modified one, looks almost like high trust but with fileiopermissions.
  • All permissions are correct on the server, the application pool runs as a special created user and that user has full permissions on the folder.

On the installation, in the second check "Checking File Permissions" the installation fails, "Your site failed the permissions check."

DNN uses "Directory.CreateDirectory" which isn't allowed in Medium Trust environments.
Will DNN be released soon in a Medium Trust friendly version? We have quite a lot of customer asking about this.

DNN 4.9.3 worked in Medium Trust (only tried it on IIS6).
I have no problems doing this:
     File.Create( Server.MapPath( "/Test.txt" ) );
So that confirmes the correct permissions.

CreateDirectory works fine in medium trust - the only restriction is that in medium trust folders can only be created in the AppDir i.e. the website folder and subfolders - http://support.jodohost.com/archive/i... has some useful pointers

Please check that you have list permissions at the drive level - asp.net needs to walk the path of folders and if whatever user you are using does not have sufficent permissions you will see this error.
