I am having the exact same issues. We have a brand new install of 05.04.01 (26). I'm setting up all the new pages, and if I make an error, say not assigning the proper parent page, I go back to site settings and select the correct page to be a parent. It will move the page to that parent page drop down menu, but will not give me the option of where it should fall in order of sibling pages, and it automatically appears in top of list. So I go to admin > pages to move it down that way, and, like Peter, it appears in admin > pages to be a sibling of the parent, not a child. If I click the side arrow to move it down in the hierarchy (even though in the actual drop down menu, it already is) it refuses to and then it actually deletes all the other child pages of the parent. And they aren't even in the recycle bin, so I have to rebuild all from scratch. This has happend to me twice today. Does anyone know what this is? Thanks

I noticed this strange behavior in the page hierarchy yesterday.  i moved the page around and still it would not show correctly.  i followed this post and the hint to look in the database...indeed.  the pages with the problem have a 0 where a 1 or 2 should be.  i changed these values, restarted the dnn application and the pages now show correctly.

initial install version: 5.1
current version: 05.04.01 (26)

I'll try the upgrade to the latest release and see if the problem shows up.

I've had the same problem myself on a 5.4.2 install. I believe it was fixed in 5.4.3, which was pulled, so I'm hoping the fix is in 5.4.4 which was released a few days ago. There are a few entries logged in Gemini if you want more info.

Rhys

I'm still having MAJOR hierarchy issues and I've upgraded to 5.4.4 What's happening now is if I change a page's parent page to something else all of its sub pages disappear. They aren't in admin > page menu, they aren't in recycling bin, you can't follow any links to the URLs (even if you adjust path in URL to the new parent page). If you go back and change the page back to it's original parent page the sub pages reappear. Also, on the admin > page menu pages aren't appearing with their actual hierarchy. Some pages appear on the list to be the child of pages they are actually siblings of. (if you go to the page both the bread crumb and the page page settings make it appear to be properly set up. I would worry less about the admin > page menu looking wrong, but the way the pages are appearing in the drop down menu is how they are set up in the admin > pages menu, not how they are set up on their page settings. I'm wondering if there is some way I can report this better? Every related issue I find in Gemini is marked resolved. My site is definitely not resolved, and I could lose weeks of work on content as a result.

Hi Amy,

I'm currently running 5.4.4 and the page management all seems to work fine. You may have the same problem as I did which was corrupt data, specifically wrong TabLevels and TabPaths in the Tabs table. DNN builds it hierarchy using these and when they're wrong pages 'disappear'.

I've put together a SQL script that will highlight the corrupt data, and optionally fix it. Take a look at http://www.rmjcs.com/DotNetNuke/SQLScripts/FindandFixTabLevelsandTabPaths/tabid/1187/Default.aspx

Regards,
Rhys
