Hello,

Is it possible to use FriendlyURLs to fix a broken link?
Our dnn site crashed and we were unable to recover it.

Old URL: www.springbok.ca/LinkClick.aspx?link=318&tabid=58

New URL: www.springbok.ca/Services/BusinessAnalysis/tabid/58/Default.aspx

When I try to manually edit the SiteURLs file with this code, it throws an error.

.*/LinkClick.aspx?link=318&tabid=58
~/Default.aspx?tabid=58

A better option might be a rewrite tool like iFinity's URL Master, or the IIS 7 URL Rewriter module.

Is there a free option? I don't have access to iis since we are on a shared host.

I have played around with iFinity FriendlyURL provider, and that works great for SEO, I am going to implement it soon but I would like to try to fix broken links first.

Thank you,

It's unlikley you'll be able to setup a redirect for that using the SiteUrls file.  If it is throwing an error, it could be because of an invalid regex expression. You'd have to check and make sure what the error is.

If it's a one off redirection, you could see if you have access to the IIS settings for entering a redirect.  Even if you're on a shared host, you sometimes get an option for entering in specific Urls to redirect.

The problem you're going to have trying to redirect a 'linkclick.aspx' handler is that the linkclick module is a separate piece of code to the Friendly Url Provider / Url Rewriter.   You may mess up all of your linkclick.aspx entries if you don't carefully redirect it.
