  • make sure, en-GB is enabled in Admin :: languages (select in dropdownlist and click edit)
  • en-GB needs to have en-US as fallback language!

ah, ok.

So now I have en-GB with en-US as the fallback language.

But...  under Site Settings - ONLY en-GB is availble (and therefore selected as the Default Language - I want en-US to be. And now when I edit my profile properties it only shows en-GB - I can't select en-US.

So how do I set en-US as the default language?

if both languages are enabled for your portal, both should be listed in dropdownlist for preferred language in user profiles

I do not think this is how my site is working (5.2.2) - in order to make en-US appear in the Site Settings and profile properties I HAVE to check the "Fallback Language Enabled" for en-US.

This means that currently en-US AND en-GB have the Fallback Language Enabled setting checked under Edit Language. Strangely though, in the database it shows as :

1 en-GB English (United Kingdom) en-US -1 4/01/2010 6:54:44 PM -1 4/01/2010 6:54:44 PM
2 en-US English (United States) NULL -1 4/01/2010 6:55:05 PM -1 4/01/2010 6:55:05 PM

I don't know if this is just a UI oddity? However, the problem remains (through all these different scenarios and testing) - that it's still not loading my generic profile strings in Profile.ascx.Portal-6.resx..

Thanks for your help as always btw!
