Hello,

Is there anyone that can look at a live webpage that I have up and tell me why it is loading slowly?

I developed a skin that works with the exception of the menu which I will create a separate thread for. I tried multiple tools but I can't quite pin the problem down.

The website is http://dnn.wesleyseminary.edu.

Start by paring down the half-meg image you use on the page.  Once cached, it's fine.

Also, your background image is another 125K.  You should be able to get that down to 10K or less by converting it to an 8 or 16 color GIF.  Image sizing for the web is an art form that requires the right tools.  Photoshop will usually do, learn how to use the Save for Web feature - lots of tutorials online.  As mentioned above, the main problem is the 500K statue/trees photo which I am guessing you should be able to convert to a JPG at around 60 to 70 quality and get it down under 100K.  Best of luck, Jeremy

I was about to post a new thread on this very issue but since we are all here...I am using a commercial skin by DNNSkins (I think) it is all CSS, and my site sits on a raid 5 server all by itslef. ONE SITE, and yet, it takes 30 seconds to even call a plain page. I do have video running on the front, so I know it takes extra for that, but I am having a 30 second wait to get from one host menu page to another. I am sure this should not be.

I might add that the only thing that seems to be holding up your very nice site is the image on the front being so large. Otherwise, its really nice.

 Your site loads for me fast enough. I am on 10mb virginonline. It also loads fast on BT 8mb broadband
