Anyone have any thoughts on migrating a Ning site to DNN?

The site has about 1,200 members, and we already have a separate DNN site under the same branding that sells products with about 500 users. When we set it up, the Ning platform seemed like a better fit for the community portion, with the photos, videos etc. I also did not want to host all the photos, and videos etc.

However, I would much rather have 1 site to manage. Are the social modules good enough to give as good an experience as Ning? How about server resources? Any thoughts are appreciated.
