Thanks, I'll give your code a try... I know the answer to this is probably pretty simple to people who do module development. I just don't know what runtime variables exist that I could use and haven't taken the time to dig through the source code in-depth. Right now I'm just using two versions of the skin, one for root level and one for child. I setup the portal to use child by default, and then manually change the ones at the root level.

Since there are a lot of questions regarding the use of multiple NAV menus on one page lately, I created a demo skin.

Please note you can only do this in an ASCX skin.
