Hello

I have inserted an SQL Grid Selected View module which takes data from the database and displays it onto the page.

However, although I can view the database and tables via my hosting provider and I can create a new table, I am unable to "Open Table" and "Return All Rows" , which I am able to do on my own computer.

I am able to connect to ther database through query analyzer and run the create table and insert statements. But I am not too sure what this means or how to use it.

All I want to do is add data/lists into a new database table for viewing on the web page, how do I do this?

Any suggestions.

Thanks

Laura

From your description, it sounds like you'll have to contact your host and find out how to add new tables OR create a script that will generate the tables & fill it with data, then run the script in the core SQL module.

Hello echo1

Thanks for the reply.

Although, I have permission to create a new table in Enterprise Manager via my host. I cannot fill the tables with data through the enterprise manager.

It seems that I must therefore go with your suggestion and use the core SQL module, which I was hoping to avoid.

I am not familiar with creating such scripts or with using the SQL module.  Do you of a tutorial on using the SQL module.

Thanks

Laura

If you can create a table, you should have the permission to update. I would talk to your hosting provider and ask them why you are not allowed to fill add data. If sure it's just a setting that they set wrong. You can also try using the dotnetnuke credentials that are in the web.config file when setting up your sql server regististration in Enterprise Mgr. The dotnetnuke credentials would have the ability to add/update/delete data.

Hi echo1

I can now have permission to enter data into a table via my hosting provider.

I have since also found a free tool which other SQL newbies might find useful:

"Aqua Data Studio"
