Got kind of a strange problem here, so let me try to explain.

Basically, our portal has 3 different lines of business (Retail, Mortgage, Commercial). So we have created three portals (2 our child portals).
Now, we have one role that is allowed to login and switch between portals, so we provide a dropdown and allow the user to toggle back and forth (we handle logging in and out of the portals behind the scenes).

The problem comes in when a user is only registered with the child portal, not the parent portal (No registred user role in the parent). So when he goes to navigate to a page, he is not authorized. I guess my question is, do all users have to be a registered user in the parent portal to accomplish what I am doing?

Or maybe I am going about this the wrong way. We wanted to use a single database and make switching btw portals as easy as possible.

Thanks!

In that case, I would go with a single portal, not with 3 portals.

Well I think that would overcomplicate things if we put everything inside one portal. Most pages are the same for each line of business, but then security changes and what modules show up change.
