Hi,

I don't seem to be able to install the Forum module on my live server. It installed perfectly on my local machine but when I tried to install it on my deployed site noting happened!

I followed the same steps, "Upload New Module", browse, add, upload new file. Everything seemed to work OK except that the module clearly didn't get installed because the module definition page just reloaded and the Forum definition wasn't there.

In the end I tried placing the Forum module in the install/modules directory and then used the install resource option. This worked - but I would like to be able to install modules via the interface rather than FTPing them up.

Any clues?

I've seen this problem when installing modules remotely. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Whast I ended up doing when I can't access the site via FTP to use the Install/modules method, was to add the module twice in the Upload New Module screen.

BTW this happens to any module not just the Forum.

I'm having the same problem, but with skins, not modules.  I have three installations: development machine, standalone server and ISP.  It's only on the ISP that this is happening.  Is there any resolution for this issue?

Everytime I have seen anything like this it is an asp.net timeout issue. You can up the one setting in the web.config but I am not so sure this is going to help.
