I have a question about DNN's fitness for a website for a professional services firm that has 100 clients. The professional services firm, say, an architect, wishes to have a secure area where each one of their clients can view, upload and download Microsoft Office and PDF documents.

Is DNN configurable WITHOUT PROGRAMMING, along with some sort of document management module, to provide for a 'Client Area' page within the website that, once logged in, a user enter's an area where they can view/upload/download documents THAT ONLY BELONG TO THEM.

My cursory analysis leads me to believe that the document management module, and indeed others offered through Snowcovered, will partially allow what i am looking for however falls short in that once someone goes to a 'Client Area' type page, they will see EVERYONE ELSE'S documents, although they may not be able to download them or read them; they see that they are there.

Can anyone tell me if this type of website is doable in DNN and if so, what document management module do i need in order to do this??

Thank you.

Robert,

I have a client with this exact situation and it is working great.  I used DMX from http://www.bring2mind.net/ .  It is easy for the client to setup the needed groups and users and each can only see the files for their group.

 Wow. Ouch. $$$$$$$$$

The licensing costs for each of these products is incredible (high). Looks like the Document Management vendors will get their pound of flesh from *each* install you do.

Somebody needs to do what DNN did and do an Open Source on Document Managment, or DNN needs to make their module more robust.

So much for 'open source' :-(

some of the 3rd party module did cost a large amount of effort to develop and have a smaller user base than other smaller modules - as well as some use licensed 3rd party components, they had to pay for. Sure it would be wonderful, if everything were free - but maybe not everything would be created in this situation.

Cheers from Germany,
