I have a DotNetNuke Module created in DNN 4.9.2. It runs fine on my dev machine but when I post it to the live server, I just get a blank screen, well my skin with no content.

I have installed and then uninstalled, then reinstalled the module, same issue.

I must be overlooking something. Can anyone outline some ideas on how to trouble shoot this issue. I have done the following:

  • Check code - exact match
  • Check DNN Event Log - clean
  • Look for errors - none
  • Restart Site - same issue
  • Check Windows Logs - clean
  • Bang Head against desk - same issue, although now I have a headache

Any other ideas would be great

I would validate the module definintion to ensure that you do not have duplicate entries for a specific control, and also that all control definitions are visible.

Tried to validate:

Validation Results
Promotions.dnn is a valid Module Definition File.

I didn't even deploy it in a package, just copied over the code and created the module definition, same way I did it on dev.

When checking the definitions for the module, make sure that the default view control (the one to be displayed when the module if first loaded) has a blank Control Key. If it does not, there wil be no errors but the module will not display at all when placed on the page.

Thank you for the replies, it turns out it was some bad code I wrote. I was passing a local invalid path to an XSLT transform. When it didn't find the file my try/catch didn't catch the error, so it ignored it and other code which only runs when the transform happens was skipped. This caused my dynamic controls to not render.
