Hello,

I'm using dnn 4.09.05.

I'd like to be able to have a page that shows staff information. What I'm wanting to do is to have a list of staff members in the LeftPane that appear as links and when a visitor clicks on a member, a short bio of that person will show up in the ContentPane.

I'm very new to dnn. Can someone point me in the right direction, or to a similar approach?

 Hi Wolf

I am not sure about the "links clicked in left pane opening an information panel in the content pane" however Form and List can easily carry out this task inside one pane.
On 4.95 you get the earlier version called UDT but the functionality is essentially the same.

Form and List / UDT allows you to define columns and types of data that are displayed as a list or data grid. An input form is generated from your column names /types.

Data in a grid in not always very useful in terms of layout and usability so the module has a useful XSLT editor that can make style and layout style-sheets to do just what you want.  E.G. a list of people each of which has a "see more" link.

In fact if you look at the modules page related settings (Form and List Configuration) you may find that one of the options in "XSLT using self made or generated style-sheets" will be what you are looking for or at least a good starting point.

Form and List / User defined table has always been one of the most flexible and useful of DNN modules as it allows you to do this kind of thing quickly. The support here on DNN is good too.

Hope this helps.

BTW: You really should think about upgrading to 5.2.3 - There are many enhancements and the 4 series is no longer at all current.

Thank you, I will look into Form and List / UDT today.

I am making a site that will be hosted on GoDaddy and on their hosting plan page it says they support DNN 4. I emailed them and asked about DNN 5 and I received a response saying that they have no current plans to support to DNN 5.

So that's why I am using version 4.

Thanks

How about something like this.

Thanks,

Mike

 Mike,

I like that, it's slick. Unfortunately I'm working on a volunteer job, so I don't think I will invest in that at the moment.
