I set up a development site on Godaddy, I know, using a bogus domain name for the hosting site. The actual domain was pointed at another hosting account while we developed the DNN site. All went well and the site looked good so I redirected the domain name to our DNN hosting site. When I installed DNN on the hosting account I used the fixed IP address of the hosting account as the site url. Now every time we go to our domain name we end up with the IP/DNN install folder in the page url at the top of the browser. I tried adding a portal alias with the actual domain name but this didn't work. What is the trick to changing the primary portal alias or getting the portal alias the user types in their browser to show in the address bar when the page loads?

I read Chis Hammonds article on changing at the table level but am reluctant in doing this as I don't want to hose the whole site.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

go to host :: Portals, select your portal and add the correct domain name (skipping "http://", just "www.mydomain.com/dnn", if the site is installed in DNN subfolder.

Make sure the folder is included in the URL you add, since it's required to access the application.  If you just use the domain name, you'll see the effect you're experiencing.

Thank you Sebastian and Jeff. That did it. I just had the domain url without the DNN folder.

Hi, I'm having a similar problem.  I setup a test site under the alias rockwell.dixoncd.com.  I am now trying to publish the site under a different domain name (www.goldandwealth.com).  I updated the existing alias to match my new domain name and now when navigating to the site it never loads complete.  No time out no nothing.  Take a look for yourself.  Any idea what might be causing this.  thanks for any help you might provide.
