I am using Visual Studio 2008 and have installed DotNetNuke 5.0.0, then upgraded to 5.2.3.  When I "Start" (F5 or ctrl-F5) from Visual Studio the DNN home page comes up.  But, when I click on 'Login' I get an IE error because the port number is not included in the URL.

I have the same setup with Visual Studio 2008 and DNN 4.8.4.  That works without problems.  The ASP.NET Development Server port number IS included in the URL.

My belief is that something changed between 4.8.4 and 5.2.3 that caused this problem.

I have narrowed the error point to the Login.aspx.vb - cmdLogin_Click subroutine.  The Response.Redirect is generating an incorrect URL.

Help please.

AFAIK you need to add the port number in web.config file now (never tried myself though, sorry)

Thanks Sebastian.  That's a parameter I wasn't aware of.

However, with UsePortNumber set to True, the site won't even come up.  I get the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.  This is with or without the port number being specified in the Portal Alias setting.

With UsePortNumber not used, I get the initial display, but can't even get to the login page because the port number is dropped.

Report this as a bug in Gemini, it does seem to be an issue with ports not redirecting.

Does anyome know how to escalate this to report it to DNN? It's a shame that after coming to DNN and being happy with the result of building my own website that I may have to move right back out because half my customers can't get to the website. In other words, DNN must have a hot line or e mail to send real problems to that require more than " go to the forums and find the answer"

Getting a more than little frustrated

Mark
