After doing an upgrade last week to the newest version of DNN, I realized that none of my Members' usernames and passwords are working anymore.  I know they're still there because I go to "Users" and they're all still listed, they just no longer are accessible.  I had to reset my Super User account in the database just to be able to login to the site.

Has this ever happened to anyone else, and if so, how did you fix the problem?  I think that I may have lost one of the .dll files in the transition or something.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

This occurs when you replace the web.config during an upgrade. Hopefully you have a backup of your original web.config file, in there are some settings for the MachineKey encrypt and decrypt values. You need to put those values in the web.config currently being used on your website.

If you don't have a backup unfortunately you're going to have to reset all the passwords and send those to the users so they can login to the site.

Thank you Chris.  Unfortunately, I did this step already and it didn't help.  I think there's something wrong with the "Forgot Password" prompt when logging in.  It shows this error:  Retrieve Password:  There was an error retrieving your password. No password was sent.

But it will allow me to login as the Super User and reset passwords there.  I'm just afraid that people will try to login and their password won't work and when they try to click "Forgot Password" they'll receive the error message.

Thanks again,
Liz Wendel.
