Hi,

I apologise if I've posted in th ewrong forum or this has already been answered but I'm new to DNN and haven't been able to find a solution to my problem on these forums or via google.

I have new DNN 05.02.03 (74) installation that consists of Portal 0 which contains the default DNN installation and Portal 1 which contains a production site.

Portal 0 is running the default skin, and Portal 1 is running a skins expressly created for the site by XD design.

As the DNN installation is for an Australian website I believe I need to add an AU language to DNN to correctly support Australian date formats.

I appear to have sucessfully installed additional languages via Admin > Languages on Portal 0 and have loaded the appropriate langue resource files for the languages using the language resources files available at dnnenglish.com.

(As a side note is there a better resource? dnnenglish don't have any language resource files for DNN 5 as they only list support for versions uo to DNN 4.9.)

I can select any of the the installed languages fromt the as the Default Language dropdown under Portal Settings > Advanced Settings > Other Settings of Portal 0 and all appears to work fine.

When I go to Portal Settings > Advanced Settings > Other settings on Portal 1 the only language listed in the Default Language dropdown is default of English (United States) even though the languages are listed in Admin > Languages on Portal 1.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance.

Les

Les, In admin :: languages of DNN 5.2, you may select en-AU in the dropdown list and click edit beneath to enter the details. Here check "enabled" box, to enable this language for this site. you may also disable en-US, after you switched default portal language to en-AU. For english dialects, you do not need to install a language pack, simply add language en-AU with fallback language en-US and you will be using Australian metrics and original words.

Les,

Just as Sebastian points out, you will need to 'Enable' your new language in order to make it visible/active for each portal.

First, you will need to install the Language Pack (or create an empty language) while logged in as a Host user, which means you are making that language available for all portals under that DNN installation.

Later, on a Portal per Portal basis you may enable each language by marking the corresponding 'Enabled' checkbox from the Edit Language page. You reach that page from the Admin-Languages page, using the link 'Edit Language' which is located under the languages dropdown list, and after selecting the proper language from that list.

It's kind of a puzzle, I know. The config pages are all the same, but the available switches and options are different if you're logged in as Host or Admin. Remember, as a general rule, changes made as Host are installation-wide, while changes made as Admin, are Portal-specific.

One more thing: Not in the interest of marketing (which you know I don't do here), but with the intention to make a point clear:
- While you don't actually need an Australian LP in order to enable the en-AU switch/flag for your portal, our LPs do a lot more than that. They contain specific locale terminology and forms of speech, plus all text resources have been edited and proofread. And that means over 15,000 text resources, for all DNN versions.
- Sorry for being late, now you will find all Language Packs updated for all DNN versions at DNNEnglish.com.

HTH :-)

Saludos,
Alejandro.
