I've used WebHost4Life (WH4L) for many years to host several of my accounts.  I'm currently trying to migrate a site and can't even get past their control panel's login page.  Not sure what's happening, but I've been on hold for over an hour.

So, my question is........ Who should I switch to?  I've used 3essentials and found them reliable, but they don't have SQL2008 and seem slow at times.  I also need to have the ability to directly connect using SQL Server Management Studio 2008 and other windows client applications.

With your simple requirments of being able to connect direct to your SQL 2008 database, you should find hundreds of hosts available.  Assuming price is no object or you would have mentioned it, OrcsWeb is a great host.  As is Maximum ASP.  Get a dedicated server so you have full access to everything you might need.

I am in the process of migrating my site (which is hosted on webhost4life - WHFL) and am going to do a post about it as soon as I have completed it.  I then ahve to help a customer who also use WH4L.  Their automated migration does not work for many reasons for DNN sites (which could probably be a topic of another blog).  It is a pain but I am holding off on making a decision about whether all the changes at WH4L is a good thing or not.  From the way it sounds it should be and give all sites more performance and redundancy than they have now.  Keep on eye on the core team forum for my blog on migrating a WH4L account to their new system.

Shawn, I'm looking forward to hearing about your migration. WH4L has been great to use in the past. Their support has always been pretty good. Their new control panel looks much nicer than the old one. When are you planning your migration? Kyle

Shawn, did you have any luck migrating to the new WH4L servers?
