Ok here is what I am trying to accomplish.  When the user clicks on a specific menu item on the main menu I want them to be returned to the the TabId they were previously on. At first I tried using the Request.UrlReferrer but in this case doesn't work because it's not coming from a link so it comes back null.  So basically I'm asking if there is some sort of Previous Tab ID property I can use?

Given the nature of web applications there is not a property like this.  Depending on your needs, you could setup special links and put the current tabid as a querystring parameter.

Thanks so much for the replies, luckily the client changed the way they wanted the page to work so... (I can't believe I'm saying this) Yeah! For clients changing their minds! :)

I did however was going to work around this by creating a module that did nothing but sit on everypage pushing the TabId off to viewstate.

Again thanks for the replies.
