We have added the Forum module (ver 4.4.3) to our website and users have been adding posts. However, one of our users has tried to add his third post and gets this error -

 Add/Edit Post

An error has occurred.
Error: Add/Edit Post is currently unavailable.

An error has occurred.
Error: Add/Edit Post is currently unavailable.

He has already added two posts successfully and other users have been adding posts okay so why does this particular user get this error?

There will be a full error message reported in the EventLog for this entry, can you review that and post the detail here?

Thank you for your reply Mitchel, we had a look through some other forum posts and think we have found the solution in a post relating to admin settings.

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/F...

This post suggests that if after changing admin settings, any user that has submitted posts prior to the changes will get an error. The way around this in the long term is to upgrade to the later version (4.5.3) in the short term you can go to the users personal forum settings and subscribe and unsubscribe from all forums. This is supposed to clear out and reset their settings. You may need to do it two or three times to be sure but it does work. We are going to upgrade to the new version today to be certain.

Forget our last post Mitchel, the upgrade did not solve the problem it has made the situation worse!! We tried the upgrade on our Intranet site first and that worked fine. However, when we ran the upgrade on our website, the first thing we noticed was that in the Modules page, the upgrades available button had not disappeared as it had done on our Intranet site but was replaced by a button where the image was not available (a red cross). Then when we tried to add a new thread we got an error, however, this time when we tried to go into the Admin panel to reset the user settings, all of the options are displayed as text and not buttons and are not enabled so we cannot change anything. This has really messed us up as deleting the forum is not an option as we would lose all of our members entries.

We also tried running the Event Log to give you the information but got the following error message -
