Greetings,

I'm using v5.3.1; my aim is to add a page to a dnn site in which users of a specific role can manage roles and user accounts.

I login as the host account, create a new page and add "Users and Roles" module to that page. When I'm logged in (using any account, host, admin, or any non-admin) and want to open the page, dnn redirects me to the "User Profile" page in which I can edit  the account's profile. It shows the correct Users and Roles controls only when I logout ( in which case the module edit buttons are inactive).

How can I achieve my aim above? Any body knows what's going on please?

Thanks.

You need to create a page in the dnn and add  the "Users and roles" module on the page.

create a new role and give the "edit and view" permission to the page for that role so that all the users having that role can manage the users.

This is a timely question so I thank you for that answer as well amrish.

I have a follow-up question.

Is there a way to limit what users or roles a user can manage?  In other words, can we filter what users the the users that can see the page above can see or will they become the admins of everyone without some custom coding.

Ideally I would like my portal's security to mirror an organizational structure where a basic user is managed by a team lead and team leads are managed by managers and managers are managed by a role higher.

If it's not inherently available, is there a module that will allow me to create hierarchical security?  Thanks in advance.

My problem is that when an authenticated user accesses the page that has the "Users and Roles" module, he gets redirected to the his profile page by DNN!. I tried this on another intallation of v5.3.1 on another server and it was the same!. I know about the permissions that should be given to users of that page; they still get redirected; even the host and admin accounts get redirected. The controls of this module appear only when the user is anonymous! (sure with no options to add or edit users and roles)

Double check the profile page default in the advanced section of site settings. That could be overriding what you are trying to do.
