Version 5.3 upgrade went well, except for my router dying. The new router uses a default gateway 192.168.20.1 instead of 192.168.1.1. Somehow it broke the relationship between default.aspx and the database. The dnn environment is on Windows server 2003 using sql server 2005. A test.aspx page shows in the browser but when I browse the default.aspx page, the browser just reports an error in finding the web site or an issue with the web site.

I tried a new install and it failed. By now I have had much practice installing DNN so I figured this would be easy. DNN refused to install. Finally I went to the ASP.NET tab in the IIS server and found it was still pointing to the old database even though the correct settings are in the web.config file. Updating the tab did the fix.

Could someone point me to information that can get me started on learning how the default.aspx builds from the database?

Bill,

There is a lot involved with the building of the default.aspx page, is there a specific action that you are trying to figure out?  As the actual logic/magic that happens on default.aspx is not something you typically need to have a lot of knowledge of.

 Guys,

Thanks for the feed back. I will check out the videos. The main thing I am trying to understand is what can break between the default.as[x and the database. It is discouraging to start building a web site and have a little change in an ip address kill the install. At least I am making progress.
