Hey all,

We currently host an in-house Exchange server and have configured DotNetNuke's SMTP settings to send email through it.  However, we are considering switching to Microsoft Exchange Online and decommissioning our in-house Exchange server.  Does anyone know if DotNetNuke can be used with Exchange Online?  I see no particular reason why it should not, but was hoping somenoe else had tried this already.

Thanks!

You will want to check with Microsoft to be sure, but as long as they have SMTP available, it will work.

Thanks Mitchel, I'll see what Microsoft has to say.

I have not been able to get this to work.  I ran netmon on the DNN system and found it does communicate with Exchange Online but fails to authneticate it seems after the TLS session is started. Doesn't matter what authentication type is used and it is setup to use the right port. Any ideas?

I belive the Exchange Online used Authentication and disallow relay for not local addresses.  So make sure teh from address is always local exist on the Exchange Online and the domain of the sender is always on the same domain.  Often e.g on notification the admins email is used as the from header, so it must be on the same domain as you smtp login.
