Dear All,

I had several ListX modules (quick lists, made via xml) in my previous 4.9.5 installation.

FYI, ListX is not OpenWebStudio.

Now, in 5.3.1, all my ListX settings and content have disappeared!

Only the module instance remains.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance,

L

I can tell you that OWS (2.1.19) works fine with DNN 5.3.1. Is there a reason you haven't gone to OWS from ListX? I have yet to find an instance where an upgrade was an issue and the UI is much better (all though still not great) in OWS.

Hi Luis,

I've just encountered a ListX problem in an upgrade to 5.1.4, am rolling back (as I type!) and will be converting all my existing scripts to 2.19.2  before trying again.

Hi and thanks for your replies!

the latest version of ListX I have is 1.9.8 (quite old, I gather)
don't really know if it is possible to do an upgrade or even export it to OWS.

The funny thing is that in my dev environment, the upgrade (with ListX's and all) went fine!

I've been looking for some quick tutorials on OWS. Downloaded the module and plug it in, but I must confess I'm a bit baffled by the interface.

Can u recommend a good starting point?

Many thanks

L

Hi Luis,

There are some tutorials on www.openwebstudio.com, but by far the best are those by Paul Deschenes which you can get as part of a subscription to www.dnncreative.com, highly recommended and they have transformed my ability to use OWS.

I have found that if you copy the ListX xml and start a new ows configuration, then select Import, paste in the ListX xml and save.  Then go to the general tab and make sure that it's named correctly, save the new name and then publish the configuration into the OWS repository.

Now go back to the page with OWS on it and go to settings, at the bottom of the page you can choose the configuration to use from the OWS repository.  I haven't found a ListX configuration that hasn't worked in OWS.

One hint; when developing your OWS modules use Firefox, IE seems to have problems when trying to debug.

Hope this helps

Barry
