Hello,

I was able to insert a video object (youtube) in dnn 4.8.2. I have not been able to do so since that version. After researching in the forum (module),  users point it is due to the core. Any version of dnn 5.x that has not got that issue? Last night I tried dnn 5.3.1, new installation,  and I am still unable to show a video or embed youtube in the forum .... Any suggestion how to solve this? is the core intending to address this matter in the future? (so i would need to find an alternative for a client)

Thanks

This is not something that I see the core changing, the filtering process that forum posts are taken through are designed to reduce risks of cross-site scripting and other type issues.  Allowing certain object types to be included is a risk.

Now, I could see a future release of the forums module that would potentially allow it across, but the core dnn functionality I'd imagine will not change.

To clarify Mitchell's comments.

The user suggested it is a core issue becuase the Forum uses a DNN Core filter function designed to protect sites from cross-site scripting attacks (XSS) and SQL-injection attacks etc.  This core filter is rejecting the content.

The particular core filter in question will not likely ever be modifed to allow this behaviour.  However, the forum module, which uses this filter could develop its own filter, which would then allow the behaviour you are looking for.

whilst I agree with both of the previous posters (i.e. we would not weaken a security filter to allow injecting object tags), in this case I think a better solution would be for a new action button on the editor, which would allow a URL to be specified and would generate the rest of the relevant object tags - allowing for video embedding , without decreasing security. I'd suggest you add an enhancement request on the http://dnnforum.codeplex.com/ site.
