I tried yesterday to upgrade my site from version 5.2.3 to 5.5.0 and the results were fairly predictable: Compiler Error Message: BC32206: The project currently contains references to more than one version of Telerik.Web.UI, a direct reference to version 2009.3.1104.35 and an indirect reference (through 'DotNetNuke.Web.UI.WebControls.DnnWindowManager') to version 2010.2.713.35. Change the direct reference to use version 2010.2.713.35 (or higher) of Telerik.Web.UI. Source Error: Line 30: Line 31: Line 32: Line 33: Line 34: My site went down and my hosting company restored it, then went down a second time when I tried again. Hosting company restored it again for me (I have a good hosting company). After reading through this and other threads I think I understand the problem, but I would just like someone to confirm the solution for me. Currently in my web.config file it states the following: and version 2009.3.1104.35 is what is in the bin folder. I can see by the error that I received when trying to update to 5.5.0 from 5.2.3 that it requires a version 2010.2.713.35 (or higher) of Telerik.Web.UI, which the upgrade package for 5.5.0 does not contain. I've got the 2010.2.713.35 (or higher) of Telerik.Web.UI (I took it from the 5.5.0 install package) Please tell me if the following is what I should do; remove the 2009.3.1104.35 version from the bin folder of my site and replace it with the new 2010.2.713.35 (or higher) of Telerik.Web.UI as the first step. Should I also modify the line above from the web.config file to reflect the new version, or let it be changed during the upgrade process? I will then run the 5.5.0 upgrade again. Am I following this correctly? The thread jumps around a bit and sometimes people see their mistake prior to getting the instructions, so I didn't really see a step by step way of getting through this problem. Of course I've backed up my site and DB and I understand that the best way is to have the site on a development machine, but it isn't, so I'd just like to know if I've understood the solution correctly.
