 Hello DNN Friends,

I use the wonderful RedGate SQL Data Compare to assist me in transferring changes that I make to the local dev environment into the live environment.

This tool compares the data in the tables and can perform update/insert/deletes as appropriate when the two systems have different data.

It seems that in 5.3.1, there are two tables Tab Settings and Portal Localisation that do not have PK's set.  RedGate likes to know the PK so that is the reason why I am asking, can anyone advise me for sure.  My worry is that it should be a compound key, or my other worry is that there should be no key at all!

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Hi

don't suppose you every got an answer to this one?

I use Redgate and am facing the same issue.

But it's a bigger issue that DNN uses IDENTITY cols everywhere. It's impossible to migrate a development copy to a changing production copy as is..

there have been a number of datbase schema improvements in DNN 5.5.x, which added missing PKs for PortalLocalization (EntryId), while TabSettings has a unique key "IX_TabSettings_TabID_SettingName", which might be used as PK as well.

Regarding Identity colums, this is done by intention, however you may turn IDENTITY INSERT off, when replicating content, as long as there are no modifications on data and you are excluding log files from your replication.
