Gday

I had to reformat my C drive , (my dnn software are on another drive, ) so which meant having to reinstall sql server  and recreating the data basses, I then done a restore from from the backup .bak file which all went smoothly, I can see the tables in the database, but I still get dnn site unavailable, so when typing in the domain it is not seeing the database,

web config files are all correct, I even copy and pasted the mdf files directly into the program, and I had not changed any files in DNN which is located on another HD , I have 3 DNN sites and all are the same

Im running server 2003

Clive, I am not sure everything is the same or setup yet. I would need more details about the problem, but first I would check to see if you can get to an image file in your dnn site (http://localhost/MyVirDir/403-3.gif. If this works, then you know things are setup for basic IIS. The next test will be making sure .NET works. After that, see if your connection string info changed. I would consider attempting a new dnn install (in a new virtual directory, and new db) once you confirmed IIS is ok just to see if you can work through the issues. Remember, you may need to update your portal alias in the existing DB (you restored) if you changed the virtual directory name (or domain name).

yes ISS is working great, so is .NET

ive pointed it down to im just not picking up the database, I created a completly new database, virt directly and a new DNN, on instalation it wont read the data base, and yes the web.config is correct I checked it many times and evern installed a new web config then reconfigured it.

My guess is your database server name is off in the web.config.

thanks I found the probelm I changed from window authenication to sql server authentication
