I have having a tough time implementing the following, and wondering if anyone has any insight or suggestions. I have a main website: www.mywebsite.com. I have a bunch of organization committee sites: committee1.mywebsite.com, committee2.mywebsite.com, etc., as part of this DNN installation, each of which might contain discussion forums, committee members only areas, etc.. I have a bunch of roles defined at www.mywebsite.com for each committee (member, administrator).
I would like users to register with mywebsite.com, where they could be flagged as members of various committees, and restrict it so that they needed to use a unique email address. All user registrations would be at the main site. I'd like them to be able to log onto the main site and have their assigned roles carry over to the committee sites without having to have multiple registrations to get to the restricted committee areas.
I tried to implement the only multi-portal solution I could find, but I couldn't ever get it to work correctly and had to restore my database many many times, which was not a good thing. I tried to set up a child portal, thinking that that would work but no luck.
I am thinking that the only way I will be able to do what I am trying to do is to move all the committee pages into the main website, but there are 20 committees, and that would get clunky. We've got potentially a thousand members, who could belong to one or many or no committees.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. I am running 05.02.03 (74)
