I've seen that the one-man 'team' that was leading this project has become tied up with other work (per Sebastian's reply in another thread)... So I'm left curious if we'll be seeing any development on this module in the near future. While it does fill a very narrow need with the rest of the core, I would (and I'm sure many others) would greatly benefit from some key additions that were outlined in the "5.0 Beta" thread. For me, the ability to add new fields of various types would greatly improve my ability to deploy sites using the core module. While it's true that there are plenty of third-party solutions, I prefer to stay as close-to-core as I can for the sake of my sanity during maintenance & updates.

So the short version is: are there any plans to further develop the core "Feedback" module?   If not, is the "Forms and Lists" module supposed to fill these needs, I've found it to be a bit difficult to wrap my head around for even some of the most 'simple' feedback forms.

I have temporarily "adopted" the Feedback module project and am working on a series of bug fixes and enhancements - most based on a recent re-write of the module that I had to do for one of my clients. I hope to get a beta up on CodePlex by late next week. The revised module will then have to go through the rigorous DotNetNuke module release testing process before it should be used on a live production site.

The new version does add additional fields for contact information but not the ability to define custom fields as the previous "one-man team" worked hard to implement. I wanted to keep the module relatively simple to configure while at the same time adding enhancements such as templated guest book display, improved moderation capabilities (including editing of feedback subject and message), ability for feedback e-mails to be sent to multiple e-mail addresses and/or users in one or more DNN security roles, and the ability to display or moderate multiple categories of feedback. There are also many bug fixes and better XHTML compliancy.

The Form and List module is an excellent one for defining custom forms/custom fields but does not provide quite as much capability in the area of workflow management/moderation and email options as will the new Feedback module.

William -

Glad to hear it, although I don't envy you. I'm sure these core projects are quite an undertaking. I'll keep an eye on the forge and repositories to see how things are progressing. I can definitely see where Forms & Lists would come in handy, however for a majority of my "quick build" sites I just need a general feedback form module without much workflow but the ability to add various fields as per the clients' requests.

Thanks!

Feedback 05.00.00 BETA is now available for testing at CodePlex. Please read the pinned post at the top of this forum for more information and download link:

The more testing and reporting of any issues that can be done by the greater DotNetNuke community the sooner I'll be able to submit this version to the DotNetNuke release testing process and the sooner we'll have a final release.
