Hi guys,

Wanted some advice.

A few years ago, we setup a DNN site using an edited WWWStore module to act as a business directory. Its worked really well.

Now the client would like to have another directory (a community directory) exactly the same, but with new categories/listings etc.

Ive tried copying the page with new modules, but it seems the WWWStore module was only designed for 1 instance over a site.

Can I copy/rename the current installed module, and have a 2nd installation running to acheive what i want? Im unsure how DNN writes things to DB's etc, so it might try writing data to the same place etc... wanted your advices.

Might be a case of, time to upgrade.. but if this helps him out for now, it would be alot easier. He has hundreds of entries in this WWWStore module, and to re-do them all in a new module is downright scary.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks guys.

You can likely achieve this buy copying and renaming the module, but you will also have the duplicate the database tables and rename those, and all the stored procedures that reference the DB. It isn't something as simple as a copy and paste unfortunately.

Modules themselves handle how they store data, DNN doesn't restrict it, so it was up to the original developer with how they chose to implement functionality. They likely didn't restrict the modules/content to ModuleId, and instead made all the data portal wide.
